Art 2009 The Protectors, or the Guardians

The Protector gods are made of wood covered with my own papier mache mixture. In the first figure you see the natural color of the papier mache made from the Atencion newspaper. The Goddess utilizes the same papier mache mixture with acrylic pigment added to it. The protectors are designed to hang. They have faces on both sides of their heads, therefore, they see everything, hear everything and are the guardians of one's property.

I am now constructing them in wood without the papier mache covering. The wood is painted white and designed with black Sharpie. Some of them are painted with oil crayons. The protectors measure from 3 to 4.5 feet.

The two boxes are made of wood covered with papier mache. They have been painted and highly varnished. The faces are made of papier mache, painted and varnished. The cocoon like creatures are made of cheese cloth and buttons taken from men's long john underwear. The buttons are very old.
